Kevin Schade

Dr. Kevin Schade (pronounced "Skaddy") was born and raised in Orem, Utah, where he gained a love for the Rocky Mountains and all things outdoors. He attended Brigham Young University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science. After his undergraduate degree, Dr. Schade moved to Kentucky for a degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville. Dr. Schade has worked in North Carolina, Colorado and Arizona. For the last two years, he had been working in Tucson, Arizona, at a very busy family practice, but he fell in love with Colorado when living there and has been looking to move back ever since. Dr. Schade loves the relationships he gets to create with his patients and giving them the best care possible. Dr. Schade and his wife have three little girls. Their family loves small town life and has missed that small town feel living in the big city of Tucson. They love all things outdoors and are excited to get seasons back and even the snow.

Hello, I’m Laurilyn I moved to Cortez in 1971 when I was 10 years old from California. I have loved teeth since I was 5 and wanted a “tooth license” since 1966. I graduated here from MCHS in 1979, Go Panthers! I graduated from Colorado Northeastern Community College in 1982 with my RDH, for anyone who does the math that is more than 40 years. I still love teeth and teaching OHI (oral hygiene instructions). I married my high school sweetheart May 18, 2018, we have 9 wonderful children together and 22 perfect grandchildren. When not working they are our life, chasing them in all kinds of sports activities. We love traveling the world and straight up enjoying life! I look forward to meeting you, establishing a friendship, and providing you with great care and education.

Hello! My name is Amber and I am a Dental Assistant. I have been in the medical field for 2 years and I’ve been apart of Cortez Dental for 8 months. I graduated here at MCHS in 2021 and I received my phlebotomy certification in 2019 while in high school. However, I recently found that teeth are my passion, I plan to attend dental hygiene school in the next couple years to further my education. The people I work with here at Cortez Dental are an absolute joy to be around which makes coming to work something I look forward to. It is such a pleasure for me to be able to meet and develop relationships with the people in our practice. I love helping them achieve their dental goals. Outside the office you can find me either hunting, boating, camping, or riding my dirt bike with my family. I also enjoy going to concerts with friends. I look forward to meeting you chair side.

I absolutely LOVE everything about my job as a dental hygienist after 10 years! My patient relationships are a big part of what I gain from this type of work and I love getting to know people and their families on a more personal level. I am a very detail oriented person and love the intricate part of what I do. I aim to clean teeth in the most gentle but thorough way possible to help get my patients moving towards their optimal oral health. Every person is different and customizing my recommendations to each individuals current level of motivation and oral health is important to me. I was born and raised by my parents in a small town called Carnation in Washington State. For dental hygiene school I attended Lake Washington Institute of Technology and decided to further my education and earned a bachelors degree in dental hygiene through Eastern Washington University. During my bachelors degree (online) is when I moved to Fort Collins to live with my younger sister while she was attending CSU. I ended up loving it in Fort Collins and staying even after she graduated. I met my husband in Fort Collins and we bought our first house together there with hopes that we would be able to turn it into an investment property and eventually move to southwest Colorado. We were finally able to make it happen! We have quite a few dear friends in the area and are excited to be closer to them. Living closer to the desert is exciting for us as many of our hobbies like canyoneering, rock climbing, rafting, hiking, camping, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, paddle boarding, and backpacking are all out here and easily accessible! We enjoy playing board games, card games and I love doing jigsaw puzzles when weather isn’t the best. Gardening is another obsession and we are extremely excited to have 3 acres to mold into whatever we want! We love growing our own fruit and vegetables, being outside and getting our hands in the dirt. Our miniature Aussie, Mona, loves to do anything we do! We are hoping to expand our family in the next few years.

Hello! My name is Berlin, and I am the Head Assistant at Cortez Dental. I have been in the dental field for 13 years, and I am so blessed to be able to do what I love. One of the greatest parts of dentistry for me is meeting and developing relationships with the wonderful patients in our practice and knowing we have changed their lives by giving them healthy, beautiful smiles. Outside of the office, I love spending my time outdoors with my husband, family and three boxer pups. We recently had a baby girl and she is the highlight of our lives.

I was raised in Cortez, Colorado. After graduating from high school, I moved to Farmington, New Mexico, where I stayed for 11 years. I have been in the dental field for over 16 years; and for 12 of those years, I have been a dental hygienist. I attended San Juan college and earned my Dental Hygiene degree in 2011. I really enjoy my profession and helping people understand their oral health needs. I strive to make people feel comfortable and at ease in the dental chair. I am a mother of two wonderful and very outgoing children. We are a big sports family and enjoy playing and watching sports together. I have one headed off to college and one diva at home with me. I look forward to meeting you and developing a long lasting relationship.
