I grew up in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and have always called the Southwest home. I fell in love with the Four Corners while traveling back and forth from New Mexico to Utah for my undergraduate education at Brigham Young University.
I received a bachelor’s degree in general business management in 2005, then moved across the country to Cleveland, Ohio, for my graduate dental education at Case Western Reserve University. While there, I met my bride, Whitney Webster, in church. I convinced her to date me while wearing the costume of a partially eaten peanut butter and jelly sandwich from the movie “The Neverending Story.” She was in medical school at the time, completed her training to become a pediatrician and has opened a direct primary care practice here in town (Cortez Pediatrics). She is a wonderful doctor, and if you have children, I highly recommend looking into her practice!
After I finished dental school, I did a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland. It was a great year and really sparked my interest in comprehensive care and continuing education. I love to learn about teeth! After our training, we looked to move back to the Four Corners. Cortez is a perfect fit for us. We are halfway between our parents in New Mexico and Utah, and we love the mountains and the people here.
We are currently the parents of three children. You will likely see them around the office at some point and, if not there, out on the soccer fields. We are happy to be your neighbors and friends, and we love to see you and say “hi” in the grocery store, in the movie theater or at the MCHS basketball games.
Dr. Kevin Schade (pronounced “Skaddy”) was born and raised in Orem, Utah, where he gained a love for the Rocky Mountains and all things outdoors. He attended Brigham Young University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science. After his undergraduate degree, Dr. Schade moved to Kentucky for a degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville. Dr. Schade has worked in North Carolina, Colorado and Arizona. For the last two years, he had been working in Tucson, Arizona, at a very busy family practice, but he fell in love with Colorado when living there and has been looking to move back ever since. Dr. Schade loves the relationships he gets to create with his patients and giving them the best care possible.
Dr. Schade and his wife have three little girls. Their family loves small town life and has missed that small town feel living in the big city of Tucson. They love all things outdoors and are excited to get seasons back and even the snow.

I was raised in Cortez, Colorado. After graduating from high school, I moved to Farmington, New Mexico, for 11 years. I have been in the dental field for over 13 years, and for nine of those years, I have been a dental hygienist.
I attended San Juan college and earned my dental hygiene degree in 2011. I really enjoy my profession and helping people understand their oral health needs. I strive to make people feel comfortable and at ease in the dental chair. I am a mother of two wonderful and very outgoing children.
We are a big sports family and enjoy playing and watching sports together. If we are not out on the field, on the court or in the dance studio, we are usually out fishing and paddle boarding. I look forward to meeting you.
Hello! My name is Berlin I am the head assistant at Cortez Dental. I have been in the dental field for over 10 years and I am so blessed to be able to do what I love. One of the greatest parts of dentistry to me is meeting and developing relationships with the wonderful patients in our practice and knowing we have changed their lives by giving them healthy, beautiful smiles.
Outside of the office, I love spending my time outdoors with my husband, family and three boxer pups. We also have our first child on the way, a baby girl. I am so excited for the journey of motherhood.
Hi, my name is Dena Dykes. I am a newbie to the dental field. It has always been a dream of mine to help people achieve their goals for a healthy, confident smile. I enjoy getting to know great people we have in our area. I am fascinated everyday with different things I learn. When I am not assisting chairside, I love spending time with my husband, children and grandchildren. My husband and I enjoy taking advantage of the outdoors and exploring beautiful surrounding areas. I am excited to be a part of your dental journey.
I have been in the dental world for 13 years! My favorite part about my job is getting to meet and know so many people in the community. I love to see their beautiful smiles when I am out and about. In my free time, I try to be outside as much as possible! I love hiking with my two dogs, Bo and Molly, camping, fly fishing and getting better at skiing. I really enjoy life here in Colorado and am proud to call it home.
I have been at Cortez Dental for a little over three years. My husband and I have been married for 26 years and have four grown children. One of the things that I love about working at Cortez Dental is the close relationships that I have built with our wonderful patients. We are a tight knit “work family” here which also makes coming to work very enjoyable.
I am currently on the Board of Directors for our local Humane Society and have a passion for animal foster and rescuing.
I have been a part of health care for 15 years. The best part of being at the front desk here at Cortez Dental is working with our awesome patients. It is part of my job to work with patients to maximize their insurance benefits to insure the best dental health possible.
My hobbies include all kinds of crafting — tole painting, card making and making paper or clay gnomes. I enjoy spending my free time with my family, especially with my grandkids.
